For nearly a thousand years, clansmen, chiefs and competitors came from all over Scotland and banded together to compete against one another in what is often defined as one of the most rigorous forms of athletic competitions in the world... the Scottish Highland Games.
As the Scots emigrated throughout the World, they brought with them their love of the traditional Highland Games. It was only natural that Highland Games would soon spring up wherever the Scots settled. Today, the Highland Games touch many areas and lives of people throughout the United States and Canada.
Presenting the Highland Games at the 2005 Gaelic Highland Festival will be a group well-versed in the Highland Games.
The Scottish Society of the Pikes Peak Region have been clashing swords, hurlin' the haggis, throwing the hammer and putting on competitive dancing in the Pikes Peak Region for 27 years.
Join us on the festival grounds June 18 and 19 for an exciting exhibition of old-world Scottish athletics.
