he first weekend in December our historic downtown will be transformed into a magical wonderland of holiday enchantment and visual splendor offering excitement to children of all ages.
Sleigh Bell Celebration begins with an open house in our historic downtown Main Street. All shops will be open, the decorated streets filled with carolers; our local art center will hold its annual Christmas Craft Fair, the oAc quarterly Art Gallery "Chalk Walk" and all will join in celebration of the downtown Christmas Tree lighting.
Overnight packages will be available for out of town families inclusive of lodging, holiday themed breakfast and sleigh/carriage ride to the "Sleigh Bell Express" at the Royal Gorge Train Depot.
Saturday evening brings the annual Cañon City Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade of Lights, a much celebrated event in our community.
Saturday and Sunday we'll celebrate our holiday street fair with holiday themed vendors, live music, ice sculptors, roasted chestnuts, carolers, costumed characters and chain saw carving.
Sleigh/carriage rides will be available to the Royal Gorge Train Depot (a few blocks away). In your robe, pajamas and slippers you'll board the "Sleigh Bell Express". During the trip costumed characters will read holiday tales as everyone is served creamy hot chocolate and monster chocolate chip cookies handed out by elves to the guests.
